It’s Friday, so Just Relax™

“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.”

—Leonardo da Vinci

It’s hard to imagine Leonardo da Vinci, the original renaissance man, taking even a second of time off. How did he accomplish all that, you ask? Not by driving himself to exhaustion, but by using his time wisely. Contrary to what our hyper-speed, hyper-stressed modern world might tell you, success includes a bit of R&R every now and then. Whether that means lunch with friends, taking a jog in the park, or just stepping outside for a breath of fresh air, a little time off will leave you rested, recharged, and raring to go. So learn from the master. Relax.

Time to relax

  • “Our goal wasn’t to create a realistic, educational kind of game. We wanted a more relaxing experience that was full of discovery and individuality, that had these environmental challenges they needed to try to overcome.” – The IndieBeat: Valleys Between is a relaxing puzzler that ponders the environment
  • “The tote bag I was given upon crossing the threshold of In Goop Health—a day-long wellness conference for Goop’s community—is the perfect tote bag. Not too wide, not too tall; the straps are generous enough to accommodate the bulk of a winter coat, but did not slide off my shoulders once I stripped down to the athleisure I was encouraged to wear to the summit. The bag was excellent. It was exactly what I wanted, without even realizing it. ” – I Exhausted Myself Relaxing at the ‘In Goop Health’ Summit
  • “If you’ve ever refinished a piece of wood furniture or even a tabletop, you know there is something VERY satisfying about oiling the freshly sanded-down piece. The raw wood, as if very parched indeed, basically absorbs it on impact.” – This GIF of a Man Oiling a Wood Floor Is [Incredibly] Soothing
  • “Bills and junk mail are piling up on your kitchen counter, dirty clothes are spilling out of the hamper onto your bedroom floor, and let’s not even talk about the state of your spare room right now. At some point or another, this has likely been your home. (If not, kudos.) And even if you don’t realize it, the disarray can mess with your mental health.” – How To Declutter Every Room In Your House To Reduce Anxiety And Stress

Enjoy your weekend 🙂
