“The mind should be allowed some relaxation, that it may return to its work all the better for the rest.”
Philosopher, statesman, and dramatist all in one, Seneca’s life was clearly a full and varied one. His works ran the gamut from eloquent philosophical treatises to tragic dramas like the much acclaimed “Oedipus Rex”, a play that is still widely read and studied today. He served as imperial advisor to Emperor Nero, giving valuable council on matters of state. With such a busy schedule, how in the world did he find time to recharge? By realizing that, to be a healthy and happy human, our lives must have balance. Give both work and leisure their due. You will be rewarded.
